Board of Health keeps Jimbo's permit suspended pending renovation

Tewksbury Board of Health votes 4-0 to keep Jimbo's Roast Beef and Seafood permit suspended pending a full kitchen renovation. Health Director Shannon told the board an August 27 inspection found eight priority violations, five repeats, just two days after a consultant's re-inspection found only two remaining. Owner Harkeerat Singh, who has run the restaurant 18 years, said he would return to daily management and hire consultant Rajat Gupta to retrain staff, but board member Chris Janeczak pushed back sharply: "Questions are asked, questions are not being answered." The board's motion requires renovated storage, prep sinks and handwashing stations, written cleaning schedules, and health director certification before reopening, with an amendment letting Singh request a hearing if compliance is disputed.
Board Chair Melissa said, "I don't think our role as the board of health is to tell a restaurant what a menu should be." No timeline was set for the renovation.
