Ashland Reschedules Recycling Event, Launches New Permitting Portal
ASHLAND — Ashland town hall this week rescheduled its July Fourth recycling event to Saturday and rolled out a new online licensing and permitting system, while the library kicked off a slate of summer programs for both children and adults.

The town's July Fourth recycling collection event has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 11, after the original holiday-week date had to be pushed back, according to a News Flash post on the town website.
Ashland has also launched a new License/Permitting Portal called OpenGov, giving residents and businesses an online system for licensing and permitting requests, the town announced. Details on how to access and use the new portal are posted on the town's website.
SCHOOLS
David Mindess Elementary School's Site Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday, July 14, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., according to the Ashland Public Schools calendar, with another session already set for August 11.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Ashland Public Library's Adult Summer Reading Challenge 2026 continues online through Friday, July 10, giving grown-up patrons a chance to log their summer reading. The library also has a busy in-person and virtual slate this week, including a virtual "Presidential Series" talk on Andrew Jackson with doodler Heather Rogers, an adults-only Mindful Meditation session, a family "Flicknic" screening of Zootopia 2, an In Person Mystery Book Club discussion of "Pieces of Her" by Karin Slaughter, and two sessions of the hands-on Buildwave building game for kids ages 5 and up — all scheduled for Friday, July 10.

The library's Adult Summer Reading Challenge 2026 runs online through Friday, July 10. A second round of the challenge is listed online from Friday, July 10, through Saturday, July 11. The town's Conservation Commission meets via Zoom on Monday, July 13, followed by the Zoning Board of Appeals in a hybrid meeting Tuesday, July 14. The David Mindess Elementary Site Council meets Tuesday, July 14, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Later in the month, the Upper Charles Trail Committee and Planning Board both meet Thursday, July 23, with the Conservation Commission returning July 27 and the Zoning Board of Appeals on July 28.
