Ashland Reschedules July 4th Recycling Event to July 11

ASHLAND — The town's July 4th recycling event has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 11, while the Ashland Public Library moves ahead this week with its Adult Summer Reading Challenge and a slate of family and history programs.

TOWN HALL

The town announced that its July 4th recycling event has been pushed back to Saturday, July 11, according to a News Flash update posted on the town website. Separately, Ashland has launched a new licensing and permitting portal called OpenGov, which town officials say will streamline how residents and businesses apply for permits going forward.

Several town boards have meetings on the calendar this week, including the Select Board's executive session and the Town Forest Committee on Wednesday, July 8, and the Planning Board via Zoom on Thursday, July 9.

SCHOOLS

Ashland Public Schools continues to post updates tied to its Mindess Building Project, including project timeline materials and meeting documents for the building committee. The David Mindess Elementary School Site Council has meetings scheduled for July 14 and August 11, according to the district's online calendar.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Ashland Public Library's Adult Summer Reading Challenge 2026 runs online Tuesday, July 7, through Wednesday, July 8, giving adult patrons a chance to participate remotely. The library also has a full slate of in-person and virtual programming this week, including "Celebrating America's 250th: Colonial Cooking & Everyday Life: From Hearth to Table" on Wednesday, July 8, along with Baby Time for ages 0-3, a Teen Advisory Board meeting, and a Family Board Game Night the same day.

Also on Wednesday, the library will host a virtual session titled "JOB SEARCH HELP — How To Use AI Without Losing Your Voice," aimed at residents navigating today's job market, plus a virtual Smithsonian Museum visit called "Happy Birthday, America!"

COMING UP

The library's Adult Summer Reading Challenge continues online through Wednesday, July 8. The library also hosts Baby Time, the Teen Advisory Board meeting, "Colonial Cooking & Everyday Life," Family Board Game Night, and the virtual Smithsonian program, all on Wednesday, July 8. The Planning Board meets via Zoom on Thursday, July 9. The Conservation Commission meets via Zoom on Monday, July 13, followed by the Zoning Board of Appeals in hybrid format on Tuesday, July 14. The rescheduled recycling event takes place Saturday, July 11.
