ARLINGTON — July 20, 2026 — Arlington Redevelopment Board continues Chase Bank permit and approves two residential projects. The board voted 4-0 on July 20 to send the Chase Bank special-permit application for a 4,426-square-foot branch at 635 Mass Ave. back to a September 14 hearing, citing unresolved long-term bicycle parking, insufficient construction drawings for the ADA entrance ramp and masonry infill, and a signage package exceeding the bylaw's 40-square-foot-per-tenant wall-sign limit. Chair Kenneth Lau told attorney John Leone that applicants cannot "just ask for a relief saying there is no bicycle parking" and must explore basement storage or a covered sidewalk shelter. The board voted 4-0 to conditionally approve Santini Realty Trust's addition at 26 Dudley Street — accepting a solar-ready upper roof in lieu of panels after a study by Revision Energy found only a 10-kilowatt system feasible — and voted 3-0 to grant site-plan-review approval for four new residential units at 12 Lachlan Avenue under the Neighborhood Multi-Family Housing Overlay District, conditioning both on town-engineer sign-off on stormwater drainage.
