Arlington Closes Mass Ave for Town Day, Spy Pond Fireworks
ARLINGTON — Arlington closed Massachusetts Avenue from Mill Street to Route 60/Pleasant Street for nine hours Sept. 19 as the town threw its signature Town Day celebration, capped by fireworks over Spy Pond that evening.

The town shut down Mass Ave from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Town Day, which ran from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by fireworks over Spy Pond at 7:30 p.m. The town urged residents to walk or bike to the event, warning that parking near the route would be limited.
Separately, the town rolled out a new Water Usage Customer Portal that lets residents monitor their water consumption, track usage trends over time and set alerts for unusual activity, including possible leaks.
SCHOOLS
Arlington Public Schools will close Sept. 21 for Yom Kippur. The district follows that with back-to-school nights Sept. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at seven elementary schools: Bishop, Brackett, Dallin, Hardy, Peirce, Stratton and Thompson. The School Committee holds its next regular meeting Sept. 24 from 6:30 to 10 p.m., held both via Zoom and in person at the district office on Mill Brook Drive.

The town's "A Town Tiny Shed Art Series" continues Sept. 20 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. On Sept. 23, the town hosts a free screening of "Recovery City" with a panel discussion at 6:30 p.m., followed by a free screening of "CODA" at 6:45 p.m. as part of Arlington's recognition of National Deaf Awareness Month.
