Acton Schedules Free July 2 Independence Day Celebration at NARA Park
With summer in full swing and the Fourth of July weekend approaching, the biggest item on Acton's calendar is a free community celebration at NARA Park — and residents looking ahead to the week of July 4 should also note the library's holiday closure schedule.
TOWN HALL
The Town of Acton has announced its 2026 Independence Day Celebration, set for Wednesday, July 2, at NARA Park. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the evening will feature food vendors, inflatable attractions, free beach access, lawn games, and live music beginning at 8 p.m., capped by a laser light show. The event is free and open to all residents.
Also on the municipal calendar: the 250 Committee History Subcommittee, the Acton Housing Authority, and the full 250 Committee are each scheduled to meet Tuesday, June 30.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Acton Public Library will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Regular hours resume Monday, July 7 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
Looking ahead, the library is hosting a one-woman theatrical performance, "Abigail Adams: America's First, Second Lady," presented by Sheryl Faye, on Tuesday, June 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Grady/Thomas Room. The program explores Adams's role as a founder-adjacent figure, her famous correspondence with husband John Adams, and her eyewitness accounts of the Revolutionary War home front. Registration is open through the library's website.
Also on tap: the Wednesday Book Discussion Group meets July 1 at 10:30 a.m. to discuss *James* by Percival Everett, and the Acton Compassion-Knits group meets that same afternoon at 3:30 p.m. to work on charity knitting and crochet projects.
