Wilmington town meeting approves $157.5 million FY27 budget, funds fire substation and land deal. Voters raised the Sharpa Farms land purchase at 333 Andover Street to $10.75 million, passing 153-1, and unanimously backed $15.8 million toward a $19.9 million North Wilmington fire substation, prompting resident Joanne Shoukas to say, "Took you 63 years. Aren't you proud?" A move to strip $200,000 in Roman House demolition funding from the capital budget failed 106-119, and a separate demolition-delay bylaw for historic buildings failed 55-58.
Finance Committee member Scott Neville said Shawsheen Valley Technical High School's budget errors show "either a willful attempt to hide the true costs" or an inability to understand school finance, though voters still approved $311,771 for a Shawsheen feasibility study and the district's $7,348,306 assessment. Town meeting also approved a billboard overlay district, 108-40, and $65,000 for Wilmington Community Television.
