Wayland board opens recruitment for five Finance Committee seats

WAYLAND — May 15, 2026 — Wayland's Finance Committee Appointing Board opens recruitment for five of seven seats. Meeting May 15 via Zoom, Chair Cherry C. Karlson, Carol B. Martin and Miranda S Jones voted 3-0 to approve prior minutes and spent the session rewriting the recruitment statement to advertise two one-year terms and three three-year terms after members Phil and Pam resigned at the end of town meeting and a third, April, declined reappointment. Former member Brian O'Herlihy briefly offered to return for a one-year term before withdrawing. Martin blamed a "perfect storm" of 52 warrant articles, a late capital budget and heavy citizen petitions for the workload but pushed to soften language she said made the job sound punishing: "I'm just hoping to get people interested to apply." The board tentatively set its next meeting for June 25.
