Waltham Council Approves $3.8 Million in Two Loan Authorizations

Waltham council approves $3.8 million in loans, opens review of city AI use. The council, with Karen Dunn absent, approved a $2,125,684 water infrastructure loan and a $1,675,000 Zetron Max radio-alerting system loan by 13-0 roll calls, plus a non-union compensation ordinance 12-0 after Councilor Tim King recused himself. Councilor Carlos Vidal's resolution asking the city's IT department to detail its artificial intelligence use, saying he is "not suggesting that Waltham has a problem," was referred to the Committee of the Whole.
Councilors also advanced a resolution folding the city's June 22 inclusionary zoning rules into its MBTA Communities housing ordinance, accepted a $208,096 aging-services grant and a $98,672.05 green-infrastructure transfer, and continued special-permit hearings on a Crescent Street hotel and a Main Street bank drive-through to November 23.
