TOWNSEND — June 8, 2026 — Townsend Board of Health escalates enforcement at a wetland-adjacent neglected property, approves a $60,638 waste invoice warrant. The board voted unanimously at its June 8 meeting to send a certified letter to the owner of 61 Edmonton Road, giving seven business days to submit a cleanup plan and 30 days to complete it — the latest step in an enforcement effort under 105 CMR 410 after a May 18 warning letter produced no visible result. Chairman Dr. Christian Ramirez noted the same property had required a volunteer cleanup effort years ago by Conservation Commission members acting as private citizens for liability reasons. The board also approved a septic upgrade at 213 Mason Road, including a local upgrade approval reducing a groundwater offset requirement from five feet to four, and authorized invoices totaling $60,638.43, including a $57,090.10 April bill from GW Shaw and Son. Staff reported $34,763 in net receipts from the WasteZero pay-as-you-throw program through nine months and said 37 food establishments will receive in-person notices this week ahead of the July 1 styrofoam ban.
