Sudbury Transportation Committee backs $5,000 pledge to rejoin regional TMA

Transportation Committee · Meeting of April 10, 2026

Sudbury Transportation Committee signals support for $5,000 stake in revived regional TMA. Meeting April 10, members endorsed in principle a contribution of up to $5,000 as seed money to join a Transportation Management Association led by the 495/MetroWest Partnership, with Transaction, recently acquired by Beacon Mobility, forming a 501(c)(4) to run it. Chair Dan Carty said Town Manager approval is already in hand and a formal vote is expected May 15.

Select Board liaison Adam Burnie said the move "signals that Sudbury is looking to be participatory regionally." Member Alice Sapienza called the 495/MetroWest involvement "a game changer" but warned lessons from the failed earlier TMA must not be lost. Members also reviewed a prototype form for a new $100 emergency ride voucher program targeting a May 1 launch, and heard that the existing $30 voucher program logged 282 requests and 164 rides from September through March, with 118 residents enrolled.
