Sudbury policy subcommittee advances four draft school policies to full committee. Meeting January 16, the Sudbury School Committee's policy subcommittee voted to forward drafts on an English Learner Parent Advisory Council (BDFC), artificial intelligence (IJNDG), the district mission statement (AD) and superintendent evaluation (CBI). The ELPAC draft, modeled on the district's CPAC policy, sets a trigger of 100 English learners or 5 percent of enrollment; Sudbury does not currently meet the threshold.

The AI draft directs administrators to develop family handbook guidelines and cross-references existing technology policies IJND and IJNDC. Member Brad said state DOE guidance "is not recommending" a formal AI policy but the draft "has the bones of sort of the middle of the road." The mission statement would incorporate existing staff-developed equity and inclusion statements. A fifth policy, IHBAA on special education program observations, was referred to district counsel.
