Sudbury Housing Authority approves design-build RFP for Pine Lakes redevelopment

Housing Authority · Meeting of March 11, 2026

Sudbury Housing Authority unanimously approves design-build RFP for four Pine Lakes homes. The board voted Tuesday to advance a request for proposals seeking an integrated design-build team after concluding that the earlier Zero Energy Design schematic exceeded available funds, with roughly $840,000 in Community Preservation Act money already committed. Cambridge Housing Authority deputy director Matt Zajac told the board the Chapter 30B process would score respondents on experience, design, price and interviews, with six weeks allotted for proposals.

Board member Steve framed the shift as "a trade-off of control versus cost." Members directed staff to prohibit exposed exterior staircases and exterior wood on windows, lengthen the roof warranty beyond 20 years, and return with the draft contract before it is issued. Resident Alicia Carrillo criticized the noon meeting time and 48-hour posting window.
