Sudbury energy committee elects interim chair, honors departing leader after lawn-sign controversy. The Energy and Sustainability Committee unanimously elected Olga as interim chair Tuesday and adopted a resolution honoring outgoing chair Rami Alwan for more than 15 years of service, citing projects including the 1.5 megawatt transfer station solar array, the 1.2 megawatt Lincoln-Sudbury solar canopy saving the district over $150,000 annually, and an aggregation program returning roughly $9.2 million to the community. Members addressed a controversy over $450 in committee-funded lawn signs that improperly directed residents how to vote on three solar articles; Sustainable Sudbury reimbursed the town on May 4.

Olga said the committee can "convey factual information to educate the electorate" but not advocate a position. Sustainability Coordinator Eric reported Sudbury will miss the June 30 Climate Leader Communities application deadline due to incomplete decarbonization roadmap data.
