Stow Keeps Level 3 Drought Alert Active Amid Sidewalk Work

Stow remains under a Level 3 Critical Drought designation, the most serious alert currently posted by the town, while crews continue sidewalk and road work around the center this week.

The town's website continues to flag a Level 3 Critical Drought designation as its top alert, a status that typically brings tighter restrictions on outdoor water use for residents and businesses. Officials have not posted an accompanying News Flash detailing new restrictions in the current window, but the alert remains active on the town homepage.

Construction crews began work on the Crescent Street Sidewalk Project on July 2, and the project notice remains posted as ongoing. A separate road closure notice is in effect for Barton Road, according to the town's homepage postings. Residents in both areas should expect continued disruption to travel patterns.

The town also published its July 2026 Municipal Message newsletter, and a feature highlighting 25 years of projects funded through the Community Preservation Act, according to the town website.

Several town boards have meetings on the calendar this week: the Community Preservation Committee meets Monday, July 20; the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee and the Planning Board both meet Tuesday, July 21; and the Zoning Board of Appeals meets Thursday, July 23.
