Stoneham Approves Housing Plan, Downtown Construction Starts July 6
Stoneham closed out June with two significant municipal moves: formal approval of a new five-year Housing Production Plan and the imminent start of long-anticipated downtown construction work beginning the week of July 6.
TOWN HALL
The town announced Tuesday afternoon that its 2026–2030 Housing Production Plan has been officially approved, a milestone document that guides how Stoneham addresses state-mandated housing goals over the next five years. Details of the plan are available on the town's document portal.
Also Tuesday, the town issued a construction update for the downtown corridor: crews are scheduled to begin work on Monday, July 6. Residents and commuters who travel through the center of town should expect disruptions starting that day and are encouraged to check the town's website for phasing details and detour guidance.
The town additionally posted an update on the High School Wetlands Restoration Project, reflecting ongoing environmental work on the school campus. Details are available at the town's News Flash page.

The School Committee's Policy Subcommittee meets Wednesday, July 1, by remote participation — the first of two such meetings scheduled this week. A Superintendent Evaluation Subcommittee meeting is set for Tuesday, July 7. Both are open to the public.
