Somerville Redevelopment Authority sets July 13 as decision date for Assembly Square master developer selection, while a Union Square rezoning conflict ends in withdrawal. The authority met remotely July 1 under Chair Bill Ercolini, approved minutes from its May 6 and May 19 meetings on a 5-0 roll call, and voted unanimously to enter executive session on the value of real property at 90 Washington Street. Staff member Ben Wheeler announced that the authority will hear Assembly Square developer presentations at a Civic Advisory Committee session July 7 and a City Council session July 9 before gathering for a final vote July 13.

Wheeler also reported that landowners of the Disposition 6 parcel in Union Square — who had sought to rezone the site from a five-story commercial to a six-story residential designation — withdrew their request before the Land Use Committee after the Planning Board conveyed that the change conflicted with the Union Square Neighborhood Plan and the master developer's existing special permit. The board also welcomed newly appointed member Corey Meehan, a 16-year Somerville resident and 20-year affordable housing developer at the Preservation of Affordable Housing, who led the Clarendon Hill redevelopment now known as 20 Steffensen-Aman on North Street.
