Somerville Condo Review Board Approves Final Permits for Four Properties in One Night

Somerville's Condo Review Board unanimously approved final condominium conversion permits for four properties totaling 13 units at its May 18 remote meeting. Chair Zaslav and board members Vice Chair Byrne, Simeon, and Tassalas voted 4-0 on each of five applications, covering 160 Pearl Street (three units), 42 Belmont Street (two units), 16 Curtis Street (three units), and 131 Hudson Street (three units). A fifth application at 60 Franklin Street drew the most documentation, with Attorney Mark Sheehan of Adam Dash and Associates presenting an owner-occupancy affidavit, certificate of good standing, and a $600 conversion-fee check; that property received a final permit for one unit and courtesy permits for two newly constructed units, with the courtesy units exempt from fees.

Attorney Matt Valenzuela noted that the 160 Pearl Street property had been vacant for more than three years after his client acquired it through foreclosure in February 2025 following a borrower default.
