Somerville condo board clears 13 conversion permits in one night

Somerville's Condo Review Board approved 13 condominium conversion and courtesy permits in one sitting, splitting 3-1 on only one. Board Member Solace cast the lone no vote on a preliminary permit for 14-16 Rogers Avenue, where applicant Fan Wang said an elderly seller could not notarize an owner-occupancy affidavit. Attorney Cara Dardino Matthew's application for 16 Curtis Street drew the board's longest discussion, after members questioned staff guidance discouraging voluntary tenant affidavits older than the ordinance's 12-month window; Housing Counsel Joe clarified such documents are optional but welcome.
