Somerville Condo Board Approves Final Permit for 69 Electric Ave. Three Units

Other Committee · Meeting of January 26, 2026

Somerville's Condominium Review Board unanimously approved a final conversion permit for a three-unit building at 69 Electric Avenue at its January 26 meeting. Vice Chair Byrne, Board Member Simeon, and Board Member Solis all voted yes on the application brought by attorney John Macherelli on behalf of RJM Development LLC, whose manager is Richard J. Monigle; Macherelli described the building as a long-held family property with a newly approved third unit added to an existing two-family structure.

A second application, from Young Chang Chen for a preliminary permit covering two units at 2 Cottage Circle, was tabled 3-0 after Chen failed to appear at the remote meeting. The board also heard a staff briefing indicating that a formal city "displacement annex" covering fire emergency response is in draft but not yet public, with Lauren Mahoney of the Office of Emergency Management leading the effort.
