GROTON — The Sewer Commission approved a $537.18 abatement and deferred deciding how to split an assistant's added hours. Chair Jim Gmeiner said he would talk with the town manager and the water department about the five extra Friday hours, an estimated $7,000 cost, beginning July 1. Business Manager Lauren Frory reported connection fee income near $70,000 against a $15,000 budget, though the Jan. 1 billing ran about $15,000 below last year because of estimated meter readings at accounts like Lawrence Academy.
Members were told Verizon had shut off pump station circuits; a Tel-Log replacement would cost $5,000 per box plus $500 a year. The commission also amended and approved its Jan. 7 minutes.
