Sewer Commission Holds Rate Flat, OKs Transfers

Sewer Commission · Meeting of June 24, 2026

Groton Sewer Commission held its sewer rate flat for fiscal 2027 and approved two small budget transfers. Chair Jim Gominer and Vice Chair Eric Perry heard DPW Director Paul Brinkman's budget review, which showed spending 90 percent of the department's $630,000 operating budget, minus contingency, lands at $52,444, supporting his recommendation to leave the charge unchanged. "I think it would be good to keep that number the same," Brinkman said.

The commission unanimously approved transferring $5,000 to an Old Ayer Road betterment account and $4,000 to center-district wages, plus a separate $500 transfer to Four Corners wages. Brinkman also flagged a stalled roughly 200-unit housing project and said he wants to start collecting Nod Road pump station flow data to confirm capacity before any such connection moves forward.
