Tyngsborough Sewer Commission approved a new pump station maintenance contractor and updated its regulations at its June 11 meeting. The commission voted unanimously to award the pump station operations and maintenance contract to Weston and Sampson, effective July 1, after revising bid specifications to require an all-inclusive firm with its own electrician and emergency-response capability; no other firm submitted a qualifying bid. The board also approved two regulation changes effective July 1: one updating sewer usage rates for fiscal years 2027 through 2029, and a second formally requiring private pump stations connected to the town system to maintain backup generators by incorporating DEP Section 1.2.03, closing a gap that left the town exposed if a developer challenged the requirement.

Separately, the commission authorized roughly $6,000 in hydrogen sulfide data loggers after odor complaints at Parker Lane and Muskipick, with Sewer Administrator Kathy Cayer noting that crews opening wet wells currently have no way to measure hydrogen sulfide concentrations in real time, an OSHA safety concern. The car wash at 426 Middlesex Road, averaging 16,000 gallons per day against a permitted 4,950, was directed to contact Flow Assessment Services within 30 days about installing a permanent effluent meter, which would replace water-use billing going forward.
