Select Board Votes 3-2 to Fund Public Safety Site
Select Board · Meeting of October 6, 2026
Tyngsborough Select Board splits 3-2 to fund $6.4 million public safety building purchase. Chair Jackie Geilfuss joined Vice Chair Eric Eldridge and member Nathaniel Marino to recommend the debt exclusion covering a $4.95 million acquisition and partial design costs for 100 Potash Hill Road, over objections from member Konstantinos Kalabokis and Clerk Adele Coughlin, who wanted a binding construction-cost cap first. Kalabokis warned a full build-out near $30 million could mean a roughly 9 percent tax increase.
The board separately voted 4-1 to authorize the acquisition itself and 4-1 to post the question for a Dec. 5 special election, pending town meeting approval Oct. 27. Earlier, residents pressed the board over a revised 84 Kendall Road senior-living plan, cut from 295 to 202 units, which the board voted 4-0-1 to call compliant with its 2024 development agreement. The board also unanimously posted nine other fall town meeting warrant articles, including a $358,364 capital stabilization appropriation and new town meeting speaking-time rules.
