Select Board OKs Bud's Goods Pot Deal, 4-1
Select Board · Meeting of October 5, 2026
Arlington Select Board awards marijuana host agreement to Bud's Goods over DMC, 4-1. The board first unanimously denied a rival application from DMC, with member Stephen DeCourcey saying DMC's lack of "site control" at the former Apotheca site, 1386 Massachusetts Ave., was disqualifying. It then approved Bud's Goods' agreement 4-1, with Joseph Solomon the lone dissent over an unresolved wage-theft lawsuit and vague community-integration answers; Eric Helmuth called his support "reluctant." The decision unfolds alongside a Superior Court receivership case in which DMC claims court-approved backup-bidder status.
Separately, member Diane Mahon said the town has billed a recent special-event applicant after a permitted Massachusetts Avenue event used far more parking and caused worse traffic backups, up to five light cycles, than represented.
