Select Board OKs electric shop site plan 4-1

Select Board · Meeting of October 5, 2026

Acton Select Board approves electric shop site plan 4-1 over groundwater fears. Member Dean A. Charter cast the lone dissenting vote on the 1012 Main Street permit for Baudanza Electric Company, after the board added conditions explicitly barring de-icing chemical storage and requiring an annual materials report, rather than Charter's preferred roof requirement.

"I think it's reasonably foreseeable that at some point those bins... are going to be used for de-icing chemicals," Charter said. The board also previewed a draft AI use policy from Director of Innovation Technology Carl Volker, set to return for a vote October 26, and heard results of a 62-respondent volunteer survey showing appointment delays can stretch beyond five months. Members unanimously declared October 12 Indigenous Peoples Day and approved $1,050 in Great Road Stroll donations on consent.
