Select Board proclaims 350th anniversary of Sudbury Fight
SUDBURY — Health officials urged residents to take precautions against mosquito bites after West Nile virus turned up in mosquitoes tested in neighboring communities, as the Select Board marked the 350th anniversary of the Sudbury Fight and the town's fare-free Catch Connect shuttle service was extended another year.

The Select Board issued a proclamation recognizing the 350th anniversary of the Sudbury Fight, one of the deadliest colonial-era conflicts in town history. The proclamation is posted on the town website alongside contact information for the Select Board office.
The town's Health Department, meanwhile, confirmed the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has found West Nile virus in mosquitoes tested in Hudson and Marlborough, two nearby communities, and is advising residents to guard against bites as mosquito activity continues through the summer.
On a lighter note, the Metropolitan Regional Transit Authority's Catch Connect shuttle will remain fare-free through June 30, 2027. The curb-to-curb shared-ride service runs weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Assessors Office also opened its window for fiscal 2027 statutory tax exemption applications, which can be mailed or hand-delivered to 278 Old Sudbury Road, and the Department of Public Works released its 2026 paving schedule.
SCHOOLS
Sudbury Public Schools posted a projected enrollment update for the 2026-27 school year. The School Committee has an executive session scheduled and a public meeting set for later this month, where enrollment and budget items are expected to come up.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Sudbury Senior Center announced it received a $225,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation, funding that will support programs for the center's older-adult membership. The center also opened July and August registration for non-fitness programs and activities under its "Sudbury Scene" summer lineup, with Sudbury residents given first access to sign-ups ahead of non-residents.
