Police Announce Friday Detour On Route 62/Elm Street

The Police Department is alerting drivers to a Friday detour on Route 62/Elm Street eastbound, the most concrete piece of town business surfacing in a otherwise quiet 24-hour stretch.

TOWN HALL

The North Reading Police Department announced an eastbound detour on Route 62/Elm Street for Friday, July 17, according to the town's News Flash alert system. Drivers traveling that stretch of Elm Street should expect to be routed around the affected area for the day. The town did not specify a cause or duration beyond the single-day detour window.

Separately, the town homepage continues to flag its updated trash and recycling guidelines that took effect July 1, along with a reminder that a truck-mounted aerosol spraying operation is scheduled for Thursday, July 23. Residents can find both notices, along with sign-up information for the "Smart911" emergency alert system, through the town's News & Announcements page.

COMING UP

Several town meetings are on the calendar for the week ahead. Narcan training is scheduled for Monday, July 20, along with a Parks & Recreation Committee meeting and a Select Board hybrid meeting the same day. The Board of Registrars meets Tuesday, July 21. Residents should also note the truck-mounted aerosol spraying planned for Thursday, July 23.
