LEXINGTON — The Planning Board approved a preliminary subdivision for 23 Bloomfield Street, a plan meant to freeze zoning rather than be built. The 4-0 roll call came after a dozen neighbors urged protection of the property's 1884 Queen Anne house. Planner Aaron Koepper said a definitive plan filed within seven months would freeze current zoning for eight years.
Interim Planning Director Meghan Roche said the board can grant roadway waivers but cannot require preservation. Board member Lynn Jensen said she would support waivers to save the structure. The board also reviewed proposed special residential development bylaw changes, including 2,000-square-foot average units, without voting.
