Maynard Select Board Approves $190,000 in Police Body-Camera Contracts

MAYNARD — June 16, 2026 — Maynard Select Board approves $190,000 in police body-camera contracts and funds Movies in the Park series. The board voted unanimously June 16 to approve a $70,011.59 grant contract with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and a five-year, $120,200.30 contract with Axon Enterprises, Inc. for 21 officer-worn cameras, with deployment targeted for August 1. The board also approved $2,685 from community events funds for a three-film outdoor movie series — the Goonies, Back to the Future, and a third title — organized by a Maynard Business Alliance-affiliated vendor. Public Works Director Justin Marco reported 2,500 households have registered for the town's new solid waste cart program, approaching but still short of the 4,300-household threshold that anchors the program's financial model, with cart deliveries beginning the following week. The board renewed its inter-municipal agreement with the Regional Housing Services Office, whose incoming Director Christine Gishar reported Maynard has 13 active rental assistance participants and 472 units on the Subsidized Housing Inventory, close to the state's 10 percent affordability benchmark.
