WinCam Announces Relocation to Parkhurst Amid Steep Cable Revenue Decline

WINCHESTER — WinCam is relocating its Winchester operations to Parkhurst this September after a 40 percent drop in cable subscriptions between 2014 and 2024 gutted the station's primary revenue stream. A representative identified as Lauren read an open letter from the WinCam Board of Directors aloud at the July 28 Select Board meeting, describing the departure from the station's 12-year Swanton Street home as "bittersweet" but financially necessary. The letter credited Executive Director Dave Gothier with years of Statehouse advocacy to modernize the community media funding model across Massachusetts, while cautioning that "meaningful reform does take time." WinCam, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), broadcast nearly 100 public meetings in 2025 and said the move to a rental space alongside the Winchester school administration would improve its financial outlook without eliminating the underlying funding crisis.

Select Board Chair Anthea Brady thanked the organization, noting the board's own dependence on WinCam's broadcasts to reach residents.
