Boxborough Select Board accepts fire station deed and launches Liberty Square Road grant bid. The four-member board voted unanimously Monday on a series of consequential items, including accepting the deed for 984 Massachusetts Avenue — the future fire station site, with a closing set for July 30 — and authorizing Director of Land Use Alec to submit a MassDOT Fully Integrated Application for design and engineering funds for Liberty Square Road by an August 7 deadline. The board also amended its Complete Streets policy to remove a longstanding barrier that had blocked grant applications since at least 2018, transferring administrative authority to the director and a new advisory group.

In a separate update, Town Administrator Mike and Water Resources Committee Chair Les Fox reported that state grants exceeding $2.5 million will cover all betterment fees for the 596 condominium units in Brook Village, Cardman Hill, and Harvard Ridge, with MassDEP writing additional grants directly to each association for excess funds to offset connection costs; the town expects to receive funds in 25 percent tranches beginning around January 2027. Member Wesley Fowlks was absent from the 4-0 votes.
