Littleton Begins Shattuck Street Traffic Island Construction

LITTLETON — Crews began construction on the Shattuck Street traffic island Monday, July 20, prompting a town warning to expect delays near Town Hall, even as officials touted a new regional transportation grant and a favorable report on Littleton's long-term financial planning.

TOWN HALL The town's public-safety and public-works advisory said work on the Shattuck Street traffic island starts this week, with delays expected in the area around Town Hall at 37 Shattuck Street. Further scope and duration details were not posted beyond the initial advisory.

CrossTown Connect, the regional Transportation Management Association that serves Littleton, has been awarded a $96,690 grant to relaunch its regional transportation programs, the town announced. Separately, the town released a new Massachusetts Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) summary report, saying Littleton "continues strong progress on long-term financial planning" regarding those obligations. The town also announced a new "Advancing Accessibility in Littleton" grant award, though additional detail on that funding was not immediately posted.

The town additionally published its July newsletter and posted information on State Primary in-person early voting for residents who want to cast ballots ahead of Election Day.

Later that evening, the Conservation Commission meets virtually via Zoom at 7:30 p.m., with three public hearings to follow: Webster Woods Conservation Land at 7:45 p.m., a proposed park called Castle in the Trees at 300 King Street at 8 p.m., and a matter at 550 King Street at 8:15 p.m.
