Library Trustees Open Search For New Board Member

LINCOLN — The Lincoln Public Library's Board of Trustees is seeking applicants for an open trustee seat, while the library continues its Film Society and summer programming this week despite ongoing access disruptions from nearby construction.

The Lincoln Public Library's Board of Trustees announced an opening for a new trustee, saying it is seeking someone with "a particular interest in serving" on the board. The library also is honoring outgoing trustee Peter Sugar, who is stepping down from the board after his term of service.

The library continues to navigate construction-related access issues, warning patrons that reaching Library Lane and parking may take additional travel time; residents can check lincolnbigdig.com for updates. On the lighter side, the library highlighted a local-history nugget: the band They Might Be Giants, which got its start at Lincoln-Sudbury High School in 1982, recalled in a recent interview that "the library really performed a very practical cultural function" for the band in its early days.

Other library notes include the addition of four new WiFi hotspots to its lending collection, the launch of a second annual Seed Library, and an open call for submissions to the Virginia Rundell Award. The library also flagged that Massachusetts State Park passes remain available for checkout with a library card.

This week's library calendar includes the Lincoln Library Film Society screening "Lore" (2012) and a Movie Matinee showing of "Toy Story" (1995), both slated for Thursday, July 9.
