Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of July 7, 2026
Watertown library trustees approved using the library as a polling place for the September 1 and November 3, 2026 elections and reviewed a phased circulation-desk overhaul. Library Director Rahm reported staff logged 632 patron refusals in June through a new "no log" tracking project, saying "we constantly talk about meeting people where they are, but then we send them all around our building." Trustees voted unanimously to accept $575 in June donations, including $500 from Sarabia Law for Watertown Pride, and approved the FY26 financial report, which closed at 95.3 percent of budget spent. The board also reviewed, without voting, a draft FY27 action plan and a multiphase lobby redesign that will replace the library's 17-foot circulation desk with smaller, mobile units.
One trustee called for revising draft language on homeschool-family programming to an exploratory framing rather than a firm commitment.
