Library Opens Summer Concert Series as Intersection Work Begins
The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library kicked off its summer outdoor concert series this week, while town crews began safety improvements at a busy intersection and a Fix-It Clinic drew residents with broken household goods.

The Town Council is weighing a request to name the Wakefield Memorial High School basketball court, with a public hearing planned, according to the town's News Flash feed. Details on the honoree and hearing date were not specified in the release.
Public works crews began construction on July 13 at the intersection of Oak Street, Green Street, and Greenwood Avenue to improve safety and traffic flow, per the town's announcement. The project follows a Fix-It Clinic held July 12, a community repair event where residents brought in broken small electronics, furniture, clothing, textiles, eyeglasses, and jewelry for free repair advice.
The Nahant Street Yard Waste Site will be open Saturday, July 18, and Wednesday, July 22, with a White Goods and TV/CRT Monitor Collection Week set to begin Sunday, July 26, the town said.

The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library's Crafty Crochet & Knitting Club meets today, July 17, at 11 a.m. in the library's lecture hall, an in-person weekly gathering for knitters, embroiderers, and crocheters led by Lisa.
On Saturday, July 18, the library hosts a Walk & Talk through Breakheart Reservation at 10 a.m., meeting at the Wakefield entrance on Hemlock Road, pairing a nature-themed book discussion with a group walk. And on Monday, July 20, at 7 p.m., the library presents a virtual talk, "Celebrating America's 250th: The Black Experience of the Revolution," featuring independent scholar and author Gracia Collins Rich; registration is required.
