Hopkinton Library to Close Lower Level for Carpet Replacement

Hopkinton Public Library will close its lower level for nine days starting Aug. 31 for new carpeting, an announcement that lands as the town's Main Street eastbound detour keeps rerouting downtown traffic and library visitors through Friday, Aug. 21.

TOWN HALL

Eastbound traffic on Main Street remains detoured from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 21, as work continues on the town's Main Street Corridor Project. The library's Main Street entrance stays closed until construction wraps up, and the library is directing visitors to use its Church Street entrance in the meantime. Updates on the corridor project are posted on the town's project website.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Hopkinton Public Library will close its lower level from Monday, Aug. 31, through Tuesday, Sept. 8, so crews can replace the carpeting there, the library announced. Staff have posted a FAQ about the project and are asking patrons for patience during the closure.

This week's library calendar runs as planned despite the nearby construction. A Lego and Pokémon Club meets Thursday, Aug. 20, from 4 to 4:45 p.m., followed by a virtual talk, "My Bicentennial Summer: A True-Life Adventure Across America," at 7 p.m. the same evening. Babytime and Little Explorers sessions for young children follow Friday, Aug. 21, in the Children's Programming Room, with drop-in family activities set for Saturday, Aug. 22, in the Children's Department.

COMING UP

Hopkinton High School holds ninth grade orientation Wednesday, Aug. 26, one of the first events on the district's back-to-school calendar.
