Groton Declares Level 3 Critical Drought Status

GROTON — The town has declared a Level 3 Critical Drought, according to a notice posted this week on the town's website, as Groton continues into a dry stretch of summer.

The Level 3 Critical designation was posted among the town's recent front-page announcements; the notice did not detail specific water-use restrictions tied to the declaration, though residents with questions can check the town website or the Groton Water Department for guidance. The Groton Water Department's site also carries ongoing documentation on PFAS/PFOS testing and remediation work in town water supplies.

Separately, the Town Clerk's office announced it will be closed Friday, July 17, and will resume normal business hours Monday, July 20.

The Groton Center also said this week that it is now offering Loaves and Fishes Pantry delivery for residents, an expansion of food-assistance access tied to the Devens-based food pantry.
