Conservation Board Approves School Stormwater Project
Conservation Commission · Meeting of September 29, 2026
Lexington conservation board clears school stormwater project, pushes ten cases to October. The Conservation Commission voted 7-0 to approve stormwater infrastructure upgrades at Jonas Clarke Middle School, tied to the town's federal MS4 phosphorus-reduction permit, and closed hearings approving a privacy fence at 127 North Street and a rebuild at 21 Valleyfield Street despite a commissioner's doubts the project met the bylaw's "extraordinary circumstances" test. "I don't know that that amounts to extraordinary circumstances as our rule," commissioner Tom Whalen said of the Valleyfield driveway.
The board also issued a positive determination for Eversource Energy substation work at 1 Lillian Road and full certificates of compliance at 12 Ledgelawn Avenue and 18 Bacon Street, while ten other applications, from 27 Valleyfield Street to 19 Peacock Farm Road, were continued to October 20. A wetlands dispute at 29 Pearl Street was held over pending a possible enforcement order over unpermitted fill.
