Concord Sets Aug. 24-28 Paving Schedule For Maple Street

Road crews return this week for a five-day paving project on Maple Street, with additional work planned on Old Bedford Road, Bedford Street and Lowell Road, the town announced.

The town's contractor is scheduled to pave Maple Street from Monday, Aug. 24, through Friday, Aug. 28, with crews also working on Old Bedford Road, Bedford Street and Lowell Road during the same window, according to a News Flash posted by the town Sunday afternoon. Drivers on those corridors should expect delays through the week.

Separately, early in-person voting for the Sept. 1 state primary opens Monday, Aug. 24, and continues Tuesday, Aug. 25, per the town's public calendar.

SCHOOLS

Concord-Carlisle Regional School District staff head into two professional development days Thursday and Friday, Aug. 27-28, as the district wraps up preparations ahead of the new school year, according to the district calendar.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Concord Free Public Library is joining communities statewide for "Great Reads from Great Places," a community read of "Nothing More of this Land: Community, Power, and the Search for Indigenous Identity" by author Joseph Lee. Copies are available at the Fowler Library, with discussions planned during September book clubs, partner events and a watch-party Q&A with Lee, the library said.
