Concord Closes Spencer Brook Road, Starts Bedford Street Work Monday

CONCORD — Concord drivers face a new round of construction detours this week as Spencer Brook Road closes to through traffic starting Monday and paving crews expand work to Old Bedford Road and Bedford Street, even as the town's health division flags a seasonal parasitic illness worth watching.

TOWN HALL The town is reminding residents that hot-weather lawn watering restrictions remain in effect, continuing a summer-long conservation measure amid the recent heat. Separately, the town's health advisory on cyclosporiasis notes that while Massachusetts case counts remain typical for this time of year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is advising heightened awareness after a rise in cases of the gastrointestinal illness, caused by the microscopic parasite Cyclospora, was reported in multiple states.

Also on view at the Main Library through July 26 is "A Celebration of the Declaration: An Exhibition of Rare 1776 Documents," featuring rare 1776-era materials tied to the nation's founding.
