WATERTOWN — The Watertown School Building Committee approved a $38,618.81 change order for the high school project and heard sharp complaints about the vacant Moxley property. The panel also signed off on $2,496,165.29 in high school invoices and $624,447.30 in middle school design invoices, all by unanimous roll call. A project update put the high school at roughly 96 percent complete and $775,000 under the city's approved budget.

Resident Dean Martino told the committee the Moxley site is "a horrendous eyesore," citing uncollected lunch trash, a rodent problem and no gates to secure the rear grounds. A committee member said Director of Public Buildings Denise Moroney and the city will take over site maintenance once the school closes, and pledged cleanup in the meantime. The committee also pushed the Moxley move-in date to August 17, later than originally planned.
