Biosafety Committee · Meeting of April 9, 2026

Watertown's Biosafety Committee voted 4-0 to recommend LabShares' permit for 66 Galen Street. LabShares CEO Philip Borden said the shared-lab company will run 50 labs and 58,000 square feet in Watertown, including a roughly 10,000-square-foot second floor now and 48,000 more square feet around November. Chief Operating Officer Dave Baxley said "safety is job one." The recommendation is conditioned on a trimmed list of biological materials, due ahead of the following Wednesday's Board of Health meeting.

Members noted the committee does not issue permits. Corner Therapeutics, moving from 300 North Beacon Street to 99 Coolidge Avenue around July, was told it did not need Board of Health review.
