Ayer Board of Assessors approves exemptions and abatements, schedules April 27 session around member travel. The three-member board voted unanimously March 25 to approve two motor vehicle excise abatements totaling $485.35 and three fiscal year 2026 statutory exemptions totaling $884.24, including a first-time military disability exemption for a Curly Circle resident and two newly filed Community Preservation Act deductions. The chief assessor reported that the town's migration to Vision Government Solutions assessment software remains on track for a late-April go-live, at which point she and a colleague named Dominic will manually verify 3,400 to 3,500 property parcels side by side; Vision will simultaneously conduct revaluation work required for fiscal year 2027 state recertification.

With two of three board members away for most of April, the board settled on April 27 at 2 p.m. as its next meeting date before entering executive session to discuss pending Appellate Tax Board cases.
