Ashland Opens Cooling Centers July 1–2 as Dangerous Heat Moves In
With an unhealthy heat forecast bearing down on MetroWest, Ashland is opening cooling centers this week and pushing its Independence Day recycling event back by one week.

Town officials are urging residents to take the coming heat seriously. Cooling centers will be open on July 1 and July 2 to help those who need relief from what forecasters are calling an unhealthy heat event. Separately, the town announced that the July 4th recycling event has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 11. No reason was given for the move, but the change means residents should hold any materials they planned to drop off until the new date. The Ashland Public Library has a busy Tuesday on tap. Tomorrow, June 30, the library hosts Clocktown Rockers, a music-and-movement program for children ages 2 through 5 accompanied by a caregiver. Also on June 30, a Garden to Kitchen Pizza Making session is scheduled for students in grades 1 through 5. Adults looking for something gentler can drop in for an In-Person Gentle Yoga class the same day. Residents interested in registering for these and other upcoming programs are directed to the library's new calendar system.
