The commission, which has a 45-day statutory window to comment before the Board of Health can adopt the rule without a town meeting vote, is preparing mailers to roughly 100 barns and still finalizing a public hearing date, tentatively February 23 but possibly slipping into March.

Members also discussed a potential manure-hauling partnership with Black Earth Compost and questioned a threshold requiring a permit for keeping more than 10 chickens.
