ZBA renews four special permits unanimously
Zoning Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Sherborn Zoning Board of Appeals renews four special permits and hears a pitch to loosen business-district zoning. The board voted 4-0 on each item, with Chair Zachary McBride, Jon Hammond, Todd Labbe and Addie Mae Weiss all voting aye, to renew five-year permits for Paul Puopolo and Jean Leckenby at 19 and 23 North Main Street, Alexander Weatherall's Dunkin' Donuts at 23 South Main Street, and Nora Lynch at 5 Washington Street, plus a new two-year permit for Laura Robbins's retail space at 33A North Main Street. Robbins said she dropped plans for an event space after Board of Health accessible-bathroom rules made it "monetarily a no-go," opting instead for "retail only." Building owner George Fiske asked the board to support rezoning his vacant-prone office building at 20 North Main Street from Business Professional to Business General; McBride said the current rules are "artificially limiting the potential value of the property," and a Planning Board representative said bylaw changes for the business district are headed to April Town Meeting.
