Wilmington Urges Mosquito Precautions After West Nile Detection
WILMINGTON — Wilmington health officials are continuing to advise residents on mosquito-bite precautions after a mosquito sample tested positive for West Nile virus in town, a story reported by Wilmington Patch. The advisory comes as the Wilmington Public Library rolls out a run of late-summer programs, including a rescheduled gardening series and a monthly nature walk.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Wilmington Public Library continues its "Plant a Seed, Read" summer reading tie-in with a three-part gardening presentation series featuring Nancy Kuhajda, a Master Gardener, naturalist and composter. The next installment, on hummingbird and butterfly gardening, is set for Wednesday, August 19 at 6 p.m. in the WPLD Community Room; the library noted the series was rescheduled from an earlier date.
The library's adult services department is also hosting its monthly nature walk on Thursday, August 20 at 9 a.m., this time based out of Hammel Woods, with the group meeting in the first parking lot. The library bills the walks as a chance for residents to meet neighbors while exploring a different area park each month.
