Weston Traffic Committee Reviews Route 30 Path Plans in Breakout-Session Format

WESTON — June 30, 2026 — Weston's Traffic and Sidewalk Committee broke into small-group deep dives Tuesday to work through 75-percent draft plans for the Route 30 shared-use path reconstruction. The hybrid meeting at the Police Station Training Room drew vocal public comment both in person and on Zoom, with speakers including Dave Atchison of 31A Old Red Road in favor and attorney resident Miss Jerica in opposition, who argued the project lacked an environmental impact study and exposed the town to personal injury liability. HSH consultant Jason Roy detailed how temporary and permanent easements would work for abutters, advising residents "if you get offered ten dollars, don't accept it" and to negotiate in-kind improvements. Committee member Jay Doyle noted that the 3.7-mile corridor currently has only one protected pedestrian crossing, at Wellesley Street, and the project would add six. No formal votes were taken; the committee said a public comment deadline would be set within two to three months, with input accepted at traffic@westonma.gov.
