Weston Traffic Committee Elects Flynn Chair, Extends Route 30 Comments
Traffic & Sidewalk · Meeting of August 19, 2026
Weston Traffic and Sidewalk Committee elects Richard Flynn chair, pushes Route 30 comment deadline to September 30. The reconstituted five-member committee, joined by new members Catherine "Kit" Williams, Lee Crockett and Olga Schulman, voted unanimously for both actions. Longtime resident Al Neustadt told the board "I defy you to cross at Blueberry Hill Road," describing near-misses crossing Wellesley Street, where sidewalks run only on one side; officials said a 25 percent design project there will get public hearings this fall.
Member Jay Doyle argued the town's draft Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan, ranking 43 projects, is "intended to be a master plan" and shouldn't lock in a specific top-10 list; Olga Schulman said the ranking lacked "a link between cost and effectiveness." Williams warned the committee will not be ready if the Select Board expects Route 30 recommendations by a rumored November 23 special town meeting.
